Highsnobiety

As the late Virgil Abloh taught us, the secret recipe to obtaining that vestiary X factor lies in finding just the right mixture of high and low. Off-White—the brand, not the color—is often recognized as the zenith of this mix. It’s not uncommon to catch suave style savants, skaters, and Hip Hop aficionados in the same line waiting to cop its latest threads—and rightly so. Off-White—both the brand and the color—thrives in that sweet gray area between polarities, black and white, high fashion and streetwear.

Now that it’s conquered the game of elevated streetwear, Off-White™ ushers in its next chapter with luxury retailer FARFETCH by its side to spotlight up-and-coming creatives through the FARFETCH BEAT program. Launched in 2022, BEAT is a conceptual retail series powered by forward-thinking voices in the global style arena that delivers exclusive culture-shifting releases. As the two fashion titans lock their sights on the next wave of designers, Phillip Leyesa comes into focus for FARFETCH & Off-White™’s first capsule collection in a series dubbed _LOGIC.

Leyesa—known far and wide as Philllllthy—knows a thing or two about mixing high and low. The native New Yorker is not so much concerned with constructing garments as he is with shredding them.

Bursting with swagger at the seams, the collection’s limited edition unisex hoodies and t-shirts, available in black or white, are a byword for Philllllthy’s “1 step forward, 3 steps back” approach. “I’m spending time distressing and destroying the garment only to spend even more time sewing it back up to get the repaired look.”

Despite the lengthier process, he uses manual tools for personality and precision. “Once all the larger holes are mended, I add touches of paint using ripped-up cardboard. While the paint is wet, I scrunch up the fabric so the paint can transfer to other spots,” Leyesa explains. “Finally, I sew on my ‘PHILLLLLTHY’ tag so you know it’s done by me.”

Philllllthy discovered his signature technique customizing pants and shoes from a young age. Little did he know, he’d eventually go on to collaborate with two of the buzziest names in fashion. “There are so many creatives and designers out there, and I was chosen to do this project. A collaboration with greats like FARFETCH & Off-White™  shows that my hard work in the past is paying off.”

When debating who would kick off _LOGIC’s series of collaborations, FARFETCH & Off-White™ likely was drawn to Philllllthy for his ability to distress and destroy at just the right spots, making the most meticulous decisions look effortlessly cool and undone. It would seem selecting Phillllthy is only _LOGIC(al) after all.
