Dreaming of an Italian escapade, but feeling overwhelmed by the seemingly endless possibilities Europe’s most romantic playground has to offer? Then leave the planning to Loro Piana. With its Spring Summer 2023 Women’s collection, the 98-year-old brand delivers a sartorial journey through five breathtaking Italian regions. Starting with its home region of Piedmont, then leisurely snaking its way south through Liguria, Tuscany, and Apulia, before arriving in Sicily, it culminates in the region’s wild and wonderful Aeolian Islands. Beginning at the dusk of winter and ending at the peak of summer, the voyage takes viewers through an effortlessly flowing parade of styles, textures, and moods.

There are Loro Piana staples, of course, such as the HorseyⓇ and Traveller jackets, as well as plenty of the house’s signature cashmere, exquisitely crafted into skirts, sweaters, and blazers. Easy and breezy like any great Italian road trip, the collection also features flowing printed silk dresses, caftan dresses, ponchos, and shearling blousons. There’s a delightful diversity of fabrics, too, with cottons, cashmeres, silks, and a generous serving of summery linen. The house also has an amusing and evocative glossary of color names, with garments presented in hues ranging from Pecan Nut to Toasted Hazelnut, Hay to Rope and Nougat, Rock Moss Green and Navy Blue, Red Clay, Pineapple Sorbet, and Sunny Yellow.

Eager to get its Dolce Vita dream tour started, the brand staged travel-themed pop-ups in downtown Milan at the height of the Fashion Week frenzy. There were flower stands transformed into hydrangea ateliers, in collaboration with floral artist Mary Lennox, and a newsstand in via dei Giardini was turned into a retro-inspired post office. There, passers-by were invited to send postcards illustrated by artists Emiliano Ponzi, Karolis Strautniekas, Antonietta Marrocchella, and David Doran, featuring imagery from locations across the five Italian regions which served as inspiration for the collection. The show itself was held in the uber-elegant, newly-opened Casa Cipriani, a fitting launchpad for the Italian escapade of your dreams.

Loro Piana Spring Summer 2023 will be available in stores and online from mid-January
