Being present in the art scene has always been a big part of MCM's identity, hence its close relationship with the renowned KÖNIG GALERIE.

Founded in 2002 with locations in Berlin, London, Seoul, and Vienna, the gallery represents over 40 emerging artists, the perfect platform for MCM to connect and work with some of the contemporary creatives of now.

Speaking of collaborations, MCM and German artist Johannes Wohnseifer brought their brains together to create an exclusive DJ case that you'll want to get your hands on if you're familiar with the decks. With music playing an influential role in MCM’s designs, past and present, it makes total sense that the brand worked with Wohnseifer on a hybrid case that is classically elegant on the outside and futuristic on the inside. The interior is lined with mirrored leather and orange mesh, a nod to the brand’s flagship store, whilst the inner lid picks up the façade of the MCM building in Seoul, finished off with a metal card in a red and silver MCM leather case that indicates the edition number of the DJ case.

"I have been a big fan of Johannes Wohnseifer for a long time. His approach to pop culture, his humor, and his love of music strike a chord with me and also match my idea of MCM," says Dirk Schönberger, Global Brand Officer.

Working frequently with loaded cultural symbols, political propaganda, and touching on the influence of mass media, Wohnseifer subverts and analyses everyday life, creating pieces that speak on the overlap of entertainment, consumption, and coming of age. The artist personally selected different media to fill the DJ case with life. In addition to a collection of pieces from MCM's history, the case contains an unreleased track by DJ duo and friends of the artist, Schaeben & Voss as well as two artworks by Wohnseifer himself. The first is a unique aluminum painting, which the artist exclusively created for this collaboration, and the second is a Diasec limited print of a luxury car in New York, printed with the MCM monogram.

The Johannes Wohnseifer x MCM Edition case premieres at Gallery Weekend in Berlin and will be showcased at Frieze in Seoul this September. It is also available to buy at KOENIGGALERIE.COM.
