BET have approved a pilot for Street Dreams, a new miniseries based on Nas’ life in his hometown of New York City. According to XXL, Jonathan Levine has written the pilot and will direct the series with Nas jumping on the project as Executive Producer.

Street Dreams, named after Nas’ breakout 1996 anthem, takes place in the tumultuous streets of New York in the early 1990’s. The show will focus on Nas’s own upbringing in the city, from his in-roads into the drug dealing game to finessing the rap game. Whilst navigating his way up through the scene, the show will focus on the themes of music, family and the undercurrents of rap culture.

This is only the most recent foray from Nas into the world of television. Last year he jumped on the hit Netflix series The Get Down, where he starred via his own rapped narration for the series.

Relisten to Nas' "Street Dreams" below, and stay tuned for the series.

In other music news, Young Thug is launching his #Slimeland Pop-Up Shop in London this weekend.
