Needles

Brand: Needles

Season: SS20

Key Pieces: Needles gives its SS20 selection of pants a wide, vintage-inspired cut. The trousers are delivered in a number of summer-ready colorways, including lilac and teal options, as well as some of its more familiar prints and fabrics.

Editor’s Notes: For its latest collection, currently being exhibited in Paris, Needles has pulled influences from just about everywhere. Of course, Keizo Shimizu's brand is best known for its eccentric, Americana-inflected garments, yet this time, the NEPENTHES golden goose has managed to cast its net even further.

The ever-popular tracksuit returns, but this staple is cast alongside a hugely diverse selection of shirts and pants drawing inspiration not only from the American West, but other corners of the globe.

The '70s inspired silhouettes are a departure from last year's baggy cut pants and oversized shirts. Bootleg, jacquard trousers sit high on the waist, layered with slim fit blazers, and patterned, button-down shirts; more specifically, the collection’s ostentatiously wide-lapeled, baby blue shirt. Injecting its usual palette with Eastern fabrics and African-inspired pattering and colors, Needles SS20 has done well to build on its brand values, and push out into unexplored territories.
