When the words ‘joy’ rang out over the Post Neuf, Pharrell had set the stage for what was to be an explosion of his most joyful, sure, but arguably also most signature, swaggy ideas brought to life. Here, we take you through a selection of the jacket game - an immaculate assortment of style, irreverence, tribalism and hidden meaning. The show was infused with a sense of triumph. He may have split the waters as the pick to front LVMH’s latest collection as creative director, but the trust exhibited in him by LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault and Pharrell’s dedication to doing the house proud, in turn, culminated in an elevated celebration of how streetwear has turned fashion on its head. We are big believers in this switcheroo. We’ve written the book on it (literally). See below for the inspired outerwear looks, sealing the fate of urban culture as a frontrunner for what fashion has to offer, rather than an afterthought. Here's a curated selection to help quench your jacket thirst - selected pieces from Brown's that will scratch the itch where these jackets have tickled your fancy.

The Urban Viking Look

The first jacket that stood out to us was for its unique 'Pharrell-ness' - taking inspo from both the bright, unabashed yellow tones that come from summer bops such as 'Happy' as well as Viking aesthetics, by virtue of the faux fur lining and the model's blonde locks. It leads us to think of the Matrix ghost twins in the second instalment of the trilogy. We found the yellow faux fur jacket of your dreams right here at SSENSE.

Cosy Tribal Sad Boy

The sad boy aesthetic is perfected by Timothee Chalamet - and this model's serving melancholy to a T. We love the asymmetrical cut of the jacket, and the choice to pair Pharrell's signature yellow with earthy tones. Tribal hits different with a fresh pop of colour. As luck would have it, the tribal chevron also happens to be seen at Brown's right this minute. Get it before it's gone, since the tribal smoke signals don't show signs of stopping.

Check, mate

This checkerboard print takes style notes from vintage Dior, harkening back to its S/S 2013 runway. From here, it has evolved to a finer, smaller scale print with a distinctly monochrome expression, lending itself to an added visual starkness and a moment of drama. Is he the villain? He doesn't think he's the villain... Check out this amazing furry bucket hat that does a take on the white-and-black checkered look.

Big Pageboy Energy

What's a Pharrell fashion moment without an outrageous hat? This pageboy look gives 'Please sir, can I have some more?'. The collar cut-out makes the look a little cheeky and gives the Victorian era vibe a much needed update. Here is a baker boy alternative, to satisfy any vintage hankerings.

Louis does Varsity to a T

Pharrell switched up the jacket game by creating a brand new print for this eclectic collection. ‘LV Lovers’ was referenced throughout the show, with iconic jackets across the board. This one stands out for its wearability, leather detailing and a repeat of the sad boy aesthetic - dare we say there’s a new, emotionally aware jock in town?

Varsity is Pharrell's specialty - and this option from Mr. Porter references his early days as a band geek with the same colorway as from his high school, Princess Anne. We know, we can't get you the real deal - but for Pharrell signature style, you can't get better than this.
