Highsnobiety

Tying together childhood aspiration with the timeless aesthetic of the Porsche brand, this inspired collaboration brings together Berlin-based designer Hikmet Sugör - Ceo of sneaker brand SONRA, together with lifestyle brand Porsche Design. A love story of sorts, the collaborative shoe is based on Sugör's childhood admiration for the Porsche 912. Originally introduced in 1962, the iconic sportscar was once unobtainable for the young sneaker and hip-hop loving designer. A lovestruck Sugör was in awe of the super-sleek vehicle, which featured distinctive chrome detailing and aspirational charm.

Inspired by the design elements of the classic sportscar, this collaborative shoe is made from a fusion of premium vegetable-tanned and cowhide leather. A sporty style with elegant details, it features red highlights with a slate grey hue, reminiscent of the Sugör’s favorite Porsche colors. Each numbered version of this limited edition shoe is finished with original Porsche 912 branding, bringing the vintage sportscar refs full circle.

A meeting of worlds, the collaboration pulls together all the best elements from SONRA - sneaker culture sensibilities, premium details - and Porsche Design’s precision-fueled innovation, making for a premium shoe with sensibilities grounded in streetwear. Based on SONRA’s handmade Proto silhouette, the Porsche Design Edition is a luxurious, versatile update.

To kick off the collaboration, Porsche Design is giving away a unique pair in a special sweepstakes competition. Designed in signal red, a bold contrast to the blacked-out edition, the limited shoe references the color of Hikmet’s personal Porsche 912. Starting October 5th and running through to October, 26th, 2020, you can take part in the sweepstakes by visiting porsche-design.com or the Porsche Design Store Berlin, located on Kurfürstendamm. Only one pair of this special sneaker will be made in the winner’s size.

The black colourway will be available from Porsche Design's online store on October 24th.
