Fresh from his Oscar win for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek is reportedly being cast to star as the James Bond villain opposite Daniel Craig in Bond 25. According to Collider, Malek is currently in the final negotiation stages that would see him join a cast that includes Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Léa Seydoux and Ralph Fiennes.

While not much is known about the Bond villain at this time, Collider points out that the character may be blind, according to comments made by actor Said Taghmaoui, who was previously up for the role.

Following Danny Boyle's exit, Bond 25 is now being directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. The film was intended to arrive this fall, but has since been pushed back to April 8, 2020. Naomie Harris returns to play Eve Moneypenny, while Ben Whishaw features as Q, Léa Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann, and Ralph Fiennes as M. It is also rumored that Lupita Nyong’o may be cast as well.
