Before breaking the news that TUDOR released the Black Bay Black, we actually tried and tested the brand's burgundy Black Bay with a distressed leather strap. The watch is a bit more weighty than one would expect from its looks, but the overall feel and size of it is stellar.
The hands, dial and bezel all contrast each other nicely, allowing for easy time telling, especially in underwater or dark conditions. It's a true diver's watch -- taking after the original 1954 TUDOR Submariner -- boasting water proofness up to 200 meters, or over 660 feet. Also borrowed from the vintage Submariner are details such as slender, elongated lugs, a domed sapphire crystal, and bold dials with glow-in-the-dark capabilities. A 38-hour power reserve and specially manufactured self-winding mechanical movement conclude the timepiece as one of today's finest.
The TUDOR Black Bay is available with either a distressed leather strap or stainless steel bracelet. Both versions come with an additional woven fabric strap. Each of them greatly complement the updated and sturdy 41mm casing, also polished and satin-finished.
