In skateboarding’s early days, Los Angeles-based photographer Hugh Holland found himself at the nucleus of the young sport, and was able to document it as the scene progressed in the Hollywood area. When tube socks and smaller banana boards were still the fad in the mid-1970s, Holland was simply in the right place at the right time to capture some of the originators of skateboarding, including names that would go on to gain sponsorship from Quiksilver and the like. The genuine photo set clearly illuminates how far the cultlure has come – a far, far cry from Lexus hoveboards.
