Where the runway meets the street

New York menswear legend Thom Browne has blessed us with a sneak peek of his SS17 lookbook, and if that wasn’t enough, said lookbook also features a cameo from his dog, Hector, in slide #7. Second only to Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette, Browne’s adorable wire-haired Dachshund has gathered quite the following in the fashion community — he’s had bags shaped in his honor, and even an Instagram account of his own.

Browne’s SS17 show was hosted around a mock desert island, and saw models donning luxe swimsuits and pastel-hued outfits. His women’s show in NYC followed a similar vibe — it was a surreal pool party populated by pastel-colored swimmers.

In terms of clothing, Browne’s legendary tailoring has been splattered in all sorts of soft colors and hues, decorated with all sorts of nautical motifs: whales, anchors, crabs, you name it. There’s also some more Hector-shaped bags, naturally.

Eye-popping themes and palettes aside, there’s some pretty next-level tailoring going on. He may have built an empire on shrunken grey suits, but theatrical cuts and extravagant production methods are something of a Thom Browne calling card these days.
