A big screen Game of Thrones adaptation probably won't be happening any time soon, but fans of the series — and fantasy in general — can instead focus their intentions on Guy Richie's upcoming epic, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
Set in ancient times, the story follows a young King Arthur and his struggle to the royal throne. In the latest clip, the would-be monarch can be seen drawing his sword Excalibur from the stone before presiding over an army in a huge set piece that looks not dissimilar to something from the "Battle of the Bastards." "The born king will come, it is inevitable," whispers an audio overlay. Hmm, where have we heard a plot line like that before?
Charlie Hunnam takes the role of the king while supporting appearances come from Jude Law, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen and Eric Bana. Rumors also suggest that one David Beckham could be in line for a cameo role.
Look out for the movie hitting theaters on May 12.
In other movie news, Donald Glover has been confirmed for the role as Simba in Disney's Lion King remake.
