Today it was announced that the previously teased 032c x adidas Originals GSG9.2 is set to drop today, June 21. The combat boot is part of the Berlin-based magazine’s FW19 collection and was first debuted during 032c’s ready-to-wear runway show in London. The runway show was titled "Cosmic Workship" and took on a heavy rave theme.

The GSG-9 is made by adidas for Germany’s Grenzschutz Gruppe 9 (“Border Protection Group 9”) tactical police force, which was founded after the 1972 Munich Olympics hostage crisis, in which Palestinian terrorist group Black September killed 11 Israeli Olympic team members and a West German police officer.

Although non-military, GSG 9 is called in for tactical and combat missions that require a skill set the normal police force cannot provide, including fieldwork abroad. As such, its equipment needs to be military spec, which is where the GSG-9 boot comes in.

“It’s really a quintessential German product for me,” says Joerg founder and editor-in-chief 032c. “It’s not very sexy or funky, it’s super precise and to the point,” adds Maria Koch Founder 032c.

Together, 032c and adidas Originals have dressed the boot in a grey suede upper with a canvas base and red detailing throughout. Its high-top design, padded tongue, and tread outsole all add to the utilitarian vibe. The collaborative project takes inspiration from post-war Berlin during the ’90s, when bunkers were transformed into hotbeds for raves and other underground parties at which many of the attendees wore repurposed military and workwear.

The 032c x adidas Originals GSG9.2 will launch on June 21 through limited distribution.
