Some people say that summer is the season of giant shorts, others posit that the shorter the short, the closer to God. Now, I may be team Kevin Smith here but even I gotta admit that tiny shorts just make sense for hot weather.

And when Bottega Veneta gets in the mix, you know it's gonna take the conversation to the logical luxury ideal.

Thus: tiny leather jorts.

Toss out your worn out 5" baggies, boys. This summer, it's time to leather up.

Bottega Veneta's ensmallened leather bottoms are a riff on the trompe l'oeil leather bits that're one of creative director Matthieu Blazy's signature design cues.

These range in comprehensibility from hey-nice-shirt-oh-wow-its-actually-made-of-leather to an honest-to-god leather sweatsuit, memorably worn by Bottega muse A$AP Rocky.

I'd argue that the li'l leather jean-shorts are actually one of the more comprehensible Bottega leather bits. Here's a pair of chopped pants wearable in warm weather that still make the most of their sumptuous fabrication.

The rest of the Pre-Fall 2024 collection is otherwise quite classic as far as Bottega Veneta goes.

All the old faves are here: intrecciato-woven leather bags, che bella Italiano shades, gloriously gilded jewelry of the sculptural variety, trench coats all year round.

To know Bottega is to love this stuff, though that doesn't mean that it's all familiar fare freshened up for the season.

One of the new bits is a cleverly oversized shirt made so big as to become a kind of coat, sort of a middle ground between mid-layer and outerwear. It's subtle, it's tasteful, it's clearly Bottega Veneta.

Though, for my money, the tiny leather jorts are the statement piece of the summer, bar none.
