Z2 Comics

Following streetwear's obsession with Grateful Dead merch, the iconic American rock band has teamed up with Z2 Comics on a forthcoming graphic novel titled Grateful Dead Origins, which chronicles the group's early years on how they transformed from a bar band performing as the Warlocks to becoming the pioneers of the jam band culture.

Written by Chris Miskiewicz and illustrated by Noah Van Sciver, the novel is produced in two variations: the standard edition will come with a download featuring the band's early music along with the book, while the limited hardcover deluxe edition is an oversized offering designed in a vibrant theme that features the band's signature skulls motif. It also includes unreleased Grateful Dead music on vinyl, alongside three art prints and autographs from the graphic novel’s creators.

The Grateful Dead Origins deluxe edition retails for $100 and can be ordered now on Z2 Comics' website. It's worth noting that shipment for the deluxe edition will not occur until April 2020.
