Over a year ago, rumors began to circulate surrounding a potential re-release of the Air Max 90 "Bacon." Official images of the long-awaited reissue emerged last month, further hinting at the return of the iconic colorway and, now, Nike has finally confirmed that the beloved Air Max is indeed back.
The Air Max 90 "Bacon" originally launched in 2004, courtesy of a collaboration between Nike and New York City boutique Dave’s Quality Meat. The colorway, which draws from the shades of a strip of bacon, is widely regarded as one of the most iconic Air Max 90s ever.
To add to the allure of the sneaker, the Air Max 90 "Bacon" has never been reissued — until now. Subsequently, Nike has chosen the legendary AM90 to lead this year's Air Max Day releases on March 26.
Underlining just how important this re-release is to sneaker culture, sneaker retailers are competing on social media for the meatiest (literally) product shots of the shoe. Solebox has even gone a step further to use the release to announce the opening of its new Barcelona location via a pop-up drop in the Spanish city.
