Who said short kings aren't winning? The newest version of the sizzling hot adidas AE 1 sneaker proves otherwise. Anthony Edwards' signature adidas basketball shoe is already having one of the best debuts (each new AE 1 is snapped up in the blink of an eye). And the sneaker's run is only getting better (lower too).

Behold, the AE 1 Low. Edwards laced up in the low-top AE 1 sneaker during Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs, in which the Timberwolves player was victorious over the Suns in the hot pink and black iterations.

Winning a Playoff game in your own signature basketball shoes? Name a better way to promote new kicks. I'll wait.

Not just a shorter version, the AE 1 Low boasts a "significant weight reduction and a different cushion setup," as pointed out by sneaker source @tanztz. This translates to a more lightweight and comfortable experience, whether you're driving to the basket or simply wearing the AE 1 Lows for the pure flex.

Other comments mentioned the AE 1 Low's slimmer look, which could offer fans a more snug and, thus, secure fit. Overall, it's safe to say that adidas and Edwards improved the already great AE 1 sneaker with the low-top model.

Edwards and adidas made a strong statement with the AE 1 Low's debut in the NBA Playoffs, creating a buzz not just for Edwards but for adidas as well. The brand was the unspoken star of Game 1, with other players like Damian Lillard and Donovan Mitchell also unveiling their upcoming sneakers.

The adidas hooping shoes, including Edwards' adidas AE 1 Low, are all expected to land during the Summer 2024 season. In addition to the hot pink colorway, the AE 1 Low is expected to release in an "MX Grey" colorway this year.

That's a couple of colorways (so far) for the AE 1 Low on top of whatever else adidas and Edwards may bless us with for the OG AE 1 Low — all of which will likely fly off shelves on launch days like previous AE 1 releases.

The whispers continue to prove true: the AE 1 sneaker is pacing to be the best basketball shoe of 2024, even at its lowest.
