Patagonia recently ran a pretty thought provoking ad in the November 25, 2011 daily edition of the New York Times. The ad, “Don’t Buy This Jacket”, raises awareness for the outdoor apparel maker’s Common Thread Program, which asks those that pledge to do 4 things: Reduce, Repair, Reuse, and Recycle. It’s a symbiotic relationship between the brand and the consumer in a sense that Patagonia presents solutions to various problems pertaining to their gear be it something that is worn out, or pieces that are no longer needed by the consumer.
