New Balance has unveiled a brand new silhouette known as the 247, a number which supposedly refers to the modern-day culture of living life 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The shoe takes bits and pieces from other classic New Balance designs and merges them into something completely new and modern. The throat pattern on the forefoot looks very 1300 JP-like, the Revlite sole unit nods to the 998, and the classic NB grey nubuck is carefully contrasted with a greenish-blue toe box, just like on the original 576.
Only 247 pairs of the shoe have been produced, all of which will be released to “Friends and Family” only in the first instance. Each pair comes complete with a luxury leather “passport” and bag (see slide eight.) It remains to be seen whether NB will roll it out to the public at a later date, but it seems likely judging by the initial excitement.
