"University Blue" Jordan 1s Are (Sort of) Coming Back
Even when stacked against seriously hyped drops like A Ma Maniére's Jordan 3s and Trophy Room's controversial Jordans, the Air Jordan 1 High Retro "University Blue" still came out of 2021 as one of the most popular drops of the year. Since then, there have been stylish reminders of the excellent icy blue colorway here and there. But now, Nike is officially bringing back the "University Blue" Jordan 1 sneakers (well, sorta-kinda).
The return of the "University Blue" 1s will be more tailored to golfers this time around. As explored with other buzzy Nike sneakers, the sportswear brand will be reviving the "University Blue" Jordan 1 as a golf sneaker in 2024.
Although seemingly slightly darker and slimmer than the 2021 pairs, the Air Jordan 1 Golf "University Blue" still sees those UNC-inspired blue and white colors top crispy leather and smooth suede panels. Simultaneously, black again dresses the famous Nike Swoosh and other accents.
The "University Blue" palette wraps up these golf-ready features, such as Jordan Golf branding and a tread rubber outsole, ready to grip the green, Jordan style.
Again, Nike's Air Jordan 1 Golf "University Blue" — don't forget the "golf" part — is more so crafted for sneakerheads with swing. At the same time, there are no rules stopping non-golfing sneaker enthusiasts from copping, especially if they missed out on the 2021 release. See, Nike believes in second chances.
Either way, Nike lovers can catch the Jordan 1 Golf "University Blue" sneakers on April 26 at Nike for the retail price of $190 ($20 more than a normal Jordan 1 sneaker).
The famous "University Blue" scheme also gave us a nice Jordan 4 sneaker in 2021. But the Jordan 1 version continues to be put back at the top of our minds, thanks to co-signs by Marvel folk and Gossip Girl stars.
Nike also makes it hard to forget the beautiful blue colorway when it's placed on new eye-catching silhouettes (anyone order the Jordan 1 mules?). Nike is only further immortalizing the "University Blue" with the newest rendition fit for those who know their way around the clubs...golf clubs, that is.
