Fresh from announcing his upcoming collaboration with Nike, it’s no surprise Riccardo Tisci was inspired by sports for the Givenchy Fall/Winter 2014 collection. Presented in Paris, the designer took strong inspiration from basketball, incorporating the sport’s court lines as graphics emblazoned across sweaters, button-up shirts and pants. Cuffs resembled sweatbands, orange, brown and black leathers reflected the ball itself, and even a netted shirt carried the design over quite literally. Footwear was of course a classic basketball sneaker, with silhouettes being quite rounded like a game ball. Taking the theme even further, models wore nets over their heads and the runway was transformed into an outdoor court by way of a chain-link fence.
