We continue to be very impressed with the dead-on choices of collaborators by Italian luxury outerwear brand Moncler. Having worked in the past with OFF-WHITE, visvim, Rimowa, Mykita, Thom Browne and many more, the brand has chosen to get together with American artist and designer Greg Lauren for Fall/Winter 2017. The collection, simply entitled “Collide,” links the Italian brand with the highly experimental world of the designer, who is known for his incredible eye for details.
“Dismantled, intersected and recomposed, reinvented with an extremely free, unexpected yet harmonious hand, fragments of denim garments as well as other very worn fabrics are incorporated in to puffer jackets – achieved with a kind of stratification, as well as an emotive, narrative approach which Greg Lauren holds dear. Collide is a collection which once again crosses over into the field of artistic expression.”
Similar to Lauren’s own collection, the craftsmanship of the collection is nothing short of impressive. Moncler is known in general for its fantastic quality, yet its ability to also bring to life the visions of somebody like Greg Lauren and Hiroki Nakamura of visvim, while at the same time staying 100% true to the look and feel of its own brand, is something that we rarely see executed this well.
With Greg Lauren, Moncler has created around 200 unique and Limited Edition clothing pieces – mens, womens and unisex, focussing on iconic designs from the brand’s heritage such as the über-puffers Maya, Bady and Moka. Look out for a release of the collection later this year.
