To celebrate the special occasion, Nike Sportswear releases a limited edition Nike Air Max 1 “Air Max Day” that we can preview for the first time here. Along with the placement of “3.26” on the tongue tab, the Air Max 1 “Air Max Day” combines the original white/red upper with a Volt midsole, accentuating the visible Air. The sneaker will be available on Nike.com and globally at select Nike Sportswear retailers beginning in March.
On March 26, Nike will be celebrating for the first time Air Max Day because March 26, 1987 marked the release of the Nike Air Max 1 and with it, a revolution in sneaker design and culture began. Created by Tinker Hatfield and then designer Mark Parker, a lot has happened in the last 27 years and Nike and Air have become two inseparable terms. The lineup today includes the Air Max Light, BW, Air Max 90, 93, 95, 97, 360 and most recently, the Air Max Lunar90.
