The term "grail" is used quite liberally these days, especially with truckloads of coveted sneakers releasing like clockwork each and every weekend. While we all have our own personal sneaker grails, some shoes are more deserving of the title than others.

Aiming to distill the word into its truest meaning, we decided to work with our partners StockX to create a list of the rarest Nikes of all time. Our final list was made by cross-referencing data on the least common Nikes listed on StockX against highest historical sales on the resell market, leaving us with 23 of the rarest Nikes ever, including models from Jordan Brand, Nike SB and Nike Basketball.

It shouldn't come with much surprise that Nike's self-lacing MAG sneaker from Back to the Future II takes gold and bronze on our list, for the 2016 and 2011 releases respectively. While the average sale price clocked in at $32,275, we know others were sold for considerably more, like one pair that went for over $100,000 at an auction in Hong Kong. The ultra rare Eminem x Carhartt-edition Jordan IVs from 2015 (a favorite of Mark Wahlberg) snagged silver.

The remainder of the list includes rare Jumpman drops like the Jordan V "Tokyo 23," as well as an Oregon Ducks-exclusive Jordan III, and naturally some OG Nike SB Dunks like Staple's "Pigeon" version and 2007's "What the Dunk." Five out of six Kanye West x Nike Air Yeezys also made the cut, excluding the "Zen Grey" Air Yeezy 1.

Rounding out the list, we see Air Force 1s like the "Crocodile" execution from 2007, as well as the more recent VLONE version from earlier this year.
