The unisex and utilitarian line centers around two types of luggage – one hard and one soft, with each unzipping to reveal ration pack-style compartments that house each of the items of clothing. Reversible shirts, customizable pants and shirts in which hemlines can simply be cut, and padded parkas that turn in to sleeping bags make up the innovative and modern collection. A range of shoes and boots are comprised of two parts – a sole and an upper, keeping with the collection’s clean and minimal aesthetic. Dixon adds that “there’s a syndrome of detailing in sportswear, and I want to strip that away.” Copper shoelace tabs and bag zips finish the collection off, adding a premium touch to the sleek range. You can purchase Tom Dixon’s debut line for adidas “The Capsule” now on SSENSE.com.
After giving you a preview earlier this year, we now have the full adidas x Tom Dixon collection for you. The debut partnership between the sportswear giant and the renowned British industrial designer is titled “The Capsule,” and features a collection of multifunctional garments and accessories. Inspired by the idea of being able to take only one bag away for a week, with the items functioning with multiple purposes and acting as a survival kit of sorts. The designer got the idea after he was unable to find a hotel one night in Milan and literally had to sleep on a park bench.
