Nike brought Air Max Day to a new level this year with the first-ever Air Max Con celebrating the brand’s history of innovation. To nobody’s surprise, sneakerheads in New York City took the opportunity to dust off some gems and break out some fresh pairs. Here’s a look at what we’ve seen so far.
Classics like Infrared 90s and Neon 95s were naturally in abundance, but so were their upgraded counterparts from the patch series. Rare Air Max collaborations from the mid 2000s were also found among freshly unboxed pairs of cork and bleached denim Quickstrikes. Last year’s “new retro,” the Air Max Zero, was also a popular choice amongst the crowd.
Rightfully rounding out the selection was the atmos x Nike Air Max 1 “Safari,” Nike’s first-ever collaboration on the silhouette that saw an updated re-release last month. Overall, the assortment of Air Max sneakers worn to the event showcased the shoes’ ability to transcend time and maintain relevance on the streets.
Even though it was Air Max Con, it wouldn’t be an NYC event without some dedicated fellows in Jordan retros. At least the 4s have visible air..
