Editor’s Notes: Following the recent launch of its FW19 collection at Dover Street Market locations and additional retailers, Israeli brand ADISH delivers an official lookbook for SS20. Referred to as “Red Moon Above Nuweiba,” the project pulls inspiration from the Nuweiba Music Festival which took place in the Sinai Peninsula in 1978. During that time, the area remained under the Israeli occupation that began in 1967 following the Six Day War.

With 10,000 people in attendance, the 1978 Nuweiba Music Festival served as a celebration of peace between Israel and Egypt, as the event transpired during the advanced stages of peace treaty negotiations. During Israel's occupation of Sinai for just over a decade, the young Israeli population often used the beach strip of Nuweiba as a getaway from the stresses of everyday life. According to ADISH, the Nuweiba Music Festival symbolizes a more positive approach to territory withdrawal, proving that such actions can be taken with with a more joyful mindset and not solely through violence.

ADISH SS20 ultimately references the mood of this era, as the music festival's graphic language largely influences the new seasonal collection. The clothing draws from the desert aesthetic of Sinai, the texture and tones of the sandy mountains, and the style of the local Bedouins, including their traditional patterns and symbols often found on rugs and textiles.
