The spot with the best energy this weekend had to be the Berlin Marathon Shake Bar. From Friday to Sunday, AG1 took over Highsnobiety’s UDL space on Unter den Linden just a few hundred metres from the finish line, for a party dedicated to the city’s running scene.
The weekend had one message: show up. AG1 is designed to fit into a simple daily routine, whether you’re a runner or not. One scoop delivers the combined effect of multiple supplements: vitamins, minerals and bacterial cultures in a single daily blend, each ingredient selected for its quality and its role in everyday nutrition.
AG1 partnered with Berlin activewear brand Ante, giving invitees the first look at its FW26 collection. On opening night a robotic arm spray painted shorts and tanks, creating one-of-a-kind pieces timestamped at marathon weekend. A speech by Ante co-founder Marcus Butler thanked AG1 for keeping everyone going, and guests clinked glasses filled with the closest thing to a cocktail they’d get for the next 48 hours. The party shut down at 10pm–unheard of for Berliners–because everyone had somewhere to be the next day.
“Nobody wins the Berlin Marathon on race day,” says Julian Harvie, AG1’s Senior Brand & Creative Director. “They win it on a Friday night when they’d rather go out but go home. Or on a wet Tuesday in April at 6am, mixing up a health shot before the chaos of the day begins when no one is watching. In hundreds of unremarkable decisions that eventually add up to 42.195 km. It’s this philosophy that AG1 is built around and what the event celebrated. You don’t have to be excellent, you just have to be there, and AG1 takes care of the rest.”
At 9am on Saturday morning, the posse was back at UDL for a group run, with Marcus Butler leading attendees including digital creator Jannik Stutzenberger and stylist Olive Duran. Post-run shakes came courtesy of AG1’s own in-house robotic arm, which gave the hardworking bar team a break. Completed drinks were buried in a green and beige sand installation by Berlin creative Lydia Diana Kraus and Ante co-founder Julian Weigl. At 11am, the space was opened to the public and passerbys were invited to wander in, try AG1 and shop Ante—just in time to show off their customized pieces on the racetrack runway the next day.
On Sunday, AG1 opened the bar bright and early at 9am, just as 56,000 runners from 160 countries took off from Str. des 17. Juni nearby. Visitors were in prime position to witness the first marathoners approaching the finish line at 11am, and the AG1 gang were still here five hours later to celebrate the tens of thousands of other runners who had crossed the starting line. Among the crowd was model Frieder Sell and Cool Runnings club co-founder Tithey Schulz. Cheers and whistles from the crowd were audible throughout the store, providing a feel-good soundtrack that hit the spot like no music could.
The Shake Bar team were serving shots of AG1 and water in glass vials, alongside exclusive marathon weekend mixes: AG1’s PB, its signature powder mixed with coconut juice, lime juice and ice, and AG1 ANTE SPECIAL, the supplement blended with passion fruit purée and oatmilk—expertly mixed and served in a glass tumbler with a slice of dried orange. You had to be there.
As the day ran on, the space filled up with athletes wearing the tell-tale blue lanyard holding this year’s finisher medal, wobbling in to get a well-earned hit of AG1. Runners rubbed shoulders with spectators, supporters, and passersby, all knocking back green shots together. The space was packed with proud friends and family, and abuzz with post-run chat. A lot happens in the time it takes to run 42km—but so much more happens before you reach the starting line.
