There were discussions of dreams, zodiac signs, vibrations, and the effects of tuning into them last night on Münzstraße in Berlin during ALO’s flagship store opening festivities.
Though it’s not your party-variety parlance, it’s no stunner, really; the German capital is a city that runs on serendipitous encounters during late nights, not unlike this one, that evoke a feeling of boundless possibility seldom found elsewhere. It can get a little mystic. And so, as attendees lined up for ear seeding—a form of auriculotherapy used to optimize mood, sleep, and gut health—they giggled with a sort of giddy energy that made the whole affair hard to resist.
Ear Seeding was by no means the one and only stop in the Beverly Hills-based brand’s foray into Germany. Rather, a whole circuit of cosmic curiosities and wellness-adjacent indulgences went into full swing as ALO reinterpreted a night out in Berlin not as debauchery but as regenerative revelry. Among the night’s rotation of activities were tarot readings, reiki, and performances of acroyoga.
The yogis waiting in line began growing eager. Be it the buttery smooth score of neo-soul, courtesy of A Song for You Berlin, or Venus in retrograde, the urge to ZENMAXX last night was high—crown chakra-high. As the culmination of ALO’s extensive itinerary teasing its Berlin debut, including pilates, yoga, lagre, running, HIT, ALO’s event awakened an urge for renewal. And, based on the fully booked waitlists, they were not going home until they’ve got their chakras aligned, their fortunes told, and their ears seeded.
Elsewhere, at STOKE, the remarkably sleek, Michelin-featured Yakitori eatery, the pace slowed to the languid rhythm of an intimate dinner. Over a six-course meal, tendrils of umami steam curled ever temptingly under the avant-garde botanical installation designed by the Berlin-based artist Lilo Klinkenberg. Among the evening’s standout dishes, most notable were the oyster mushroom yakitori, whose sweet soy lacquer teased out the depth of its woodsy flavors. An honorable mention, too, is the BBQ leek, glazed to silken perfection in a fine gloss of brown butter and shio koji.
ALO-tagged shoulders rubbed; among them Peggy Gou, Jacob Rott, and Toni Garrn. Amid flickering candles, soft-spoken conversations turned to crystals as guests opened gift boxes revealing amethyst and smoky quartz.
Beneath the heft of the gemstone, a note read: “This crystal protects you, balances your daily life, and grounds you where your true power lies. It helps you harness your power by focusing your mind on the present and making you stronger and more resilient.” Perhaps it was the crystals, but by the time the last course came to a close, everyone seemed to rise from the table, standing a smidge taller and vibrating on a new level.
Reaching a higher state of mind never felt so chic.
