This past Thursday marked the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, created to raise awareness surrounding LGBTQ rights violations, while engaging interest in LGBTQ rights works across the globe. For this year's occasion, we find a new flag being presented, one that represents unity, and takes a stand against the heinous crimes of both the past, and future.

The thematic installation is comprised of 193 pride flags, one for every country in the world. When positioned alongside one another, they are enough to stop a bullet. This in turn signifies the power of togetherness, as when we unify, we can cut down on violence directed at the LGBTQ community.

The Pride Shield exhibit is scheduled to be be showcased in public places in order to further spark conversation and encourage action. To get involved, simply visit prideshield.com.

Now, find out why JAY-Z's public support of his mom is a huge deal for LGBTQ rights.
