Cat Burns Brings Tommy Jeans To South London
For Spring 2026, Tommy Jeans turns its focus to London, letting the city’s rhythm shape the mood of the campaign. Rooted in classic denim and the all-American cool that Tommy Hilfiger built back in the ’90s, the brand is now letting its streetwear legacy pick up a it of a Bri’ish accent this season. At the center of it all is South London’s own Cat Burns, whose honesty and quiet confidence make her a natural fit for the campaign. As a voice shaped by the same city that inspired the collection, the singer-songwriter brings an authenticity that can’t be replicated. We asked the UK’s realest pop star about her hometown, personal style, and what she brings to the iconic Tommy name.
The Spring Tommy Jeans campaign will be shot in London and aims to showcase its style and creative energy. How would you describe London style? Why does it stand out over other cities?
Cat Burns: London style is just so iconic. People aren't afraid to be themselves and wear things simply because they love them. I love how bold everyone is, how much they celebrate their individuality. No one's trying to look the same – and that's what makes it stand out. It's rebellious, it's a beautiful expression of self, and honestly there's nowhere else quite like it.
How are you putting together your fits? Are you a wake-up-and-put-on-whatever person, or a meticulous planner?
CB: Honestly, it depends on the day. Sometimes I wake up and throw something on that just fits my mood, other times I'll sit with it and build a look around one piece I'm obsessed with. I also love putting looks together on Pinterest. I try not to overthink it, but I've really loved developing my personal style over the last few years.
Tommy Jeans has an amazing legacy especially as a major brand in streetstyle in New York in the ’90s. Can you see how Tommy Jeans can play into young London’s swag and style?
CB: Definitely. Tommy has always been bold and vibrant. Londoners love taking something iconic and putting their own spin on it. The denim, the layers, it all just works. You can mix it, build on it, and it still feels like you.
Aaliyah was a huge Tommy Jeans fan back in the day, what’s it like following in her footsteps?
CB: Aaliyah really was such a legend of that era. She's such an inspiration – not just musically, but in the way she carried herself and her style. That era of fashion and music was just so playful, and she embodied that perfectly. I remember that bandeau look – effortless and so cool at the same time. To be connected to something she loved is honestly really special.
What other aspects of the brand appealed to you?
CB: I wore Tommy growing up so it feels familiar, but it's always changing enough to stay interesting and exciting. I just love the fit and the details – it feels fresh and it never tries too hard.
Tommy Jeans does a great job at reinventing prep style, injecting it with a modern young edge. How are you seeing London kids doing this?
CB: People are so creative and love to thrift! They’ll take something classic and add their own unique style. People love an oversized or layered moment. A lot of items are customised too. It’s less about rules and more about being yourself.
How has your South London upbringing influenced your style?
CB: I think you can find every type of person in South London, so you really see everything! There's so much creativity and so many different cultures all in one place. Growing up around that just shapes you. There's a real confidence and unapologetic energy there that you can't help but carry with you.
Any aspirations to get into more fashion-aligned projects?
CB: Always! I love how fashion and music overlap and I'd definitely love to explore that more. Watch this space.
