American fashion designer Kate Spade, 55, was found dead in her Manhattan apartment this morning, Tuesday, June 5.

It's being reported that Spade hanged herself in apparent suicide, as the body, along with a suicide note, was discovered by her housekeeper. Police then responded to the scene at roughly 10:10 a.m.

Kate is survived by her husband, Andy, and daughter, Frances.

Kate and Andy Spade founded Kate Spade New York in 1993, before selling 56 percent of the company to Neiman Marcus Group in 1999, and the remainder in 2006. Just last year, Coach announced plans to buy Kate Spade for $2.4 billion USD.
