Margot Robbie is set to star in a forthcoming stand-alone Pirates of the Caribbean movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The outlet reports that the Australian actress will play the lead in a new female-fronted chronicle set in the universe of the hit franchise. Sources close to the production note that the movie will be completely separate from the previously-announced Pirates of the Caribbean reboot being developed by Ted Elliott and Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin.

The Robbie-lead project will be written by Christina Hodson who also wrote her blockbuster film Birds of Prey. In addition to this, longtime Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer is attached to produce both the Elliott/Mazin project and this new Robbie/Hodson project.

Not much more about the film is known at the moment, but stay tuned for updates as we get them.
