The North Face’s Nuptse Puffer Jacket is easily one of the most popular winter jackets. That’s no surprise; it’s reliable, highly effective, and reasonably priced. But while others opt for the classic nylon shell, why not sport the new furry iteration which replaces the lower part of nylon for a faux shearling?

We’re suckers for a fluffy rejig of a classic. Only last week, we wrote about the new, furry Nike H86 Cap, and now The North Face Nuptse joins the furry renaissance. What it boils down to is that we love a subtle variation, and faux fur or fleece is a beautiful, textured way to do that.

The The North Face Nuptse Faux Shearling Jacket sees no change in its thick padding, which remains stuffed full of down and feathers for toasty insulation. The shoulders and outer collar are still covered in nylon as they’re the bits that will take the biggest beating from the elements. Now, though, the lower half of the two-tone design features a wildly cozy faux shearling finish.

Adding to the new shearling finish is the Harbor Blue colorway. The North Face Nuptse Jackets are usually rendered with black shoulders and a colored body, but this tonal iteration instead looks to contrasting textures instead of colors.

In furry Harbor Blue and Black, the standard Nuptse that you see twice a day becomes something altogether more head-turning.
