Beanies are incredibly cosy. Whether you're wearing your own, or are playing a game of 'whose beanie is it anyway' at a party, there's nothing quite like a knitted cover for your head to make you feel prepared for the winter weather. It's not just the added warmth factor, it's also the sense of being enveloped in something soft and delightful. The main benefit of approaching winter, in our view, is the sartorial choices that go with it. There is really no other season that allows you to go all out with out there, swim-wear going to the pool sh**...oh, hang on, we seem to have veered into a Lizzo song.

But while we're on the topic, there is undoubtedly a challenge involved in the transition from easy, breezy summer wear to warmer items to protect against the cold. With the right picks though, it can be a time of welcoming change - which is not a bad thing.

Changes can bring uncertainty, discomfort - maybe even foreboding. But just like some of the best Christmas songs, the ominous ones laden with church bells, sombre notes as well as organ music, are often the best ones. Hauntingly beautiful, fall and winter are the seasons that bring darkness and cold. But the light is always there, just waiting to be found.

Light up the season, combat doom and gloom with these color-popping head-warmers and head-turners.

Speaking of autumn, this colorway is about as close to a pumpkin hue as a hat can get. Added to this, the Danish term for a hat like this is, in fact... 'hue'. How hygge is that?

Grey toned is a clear winner for winter. It's got that melange shading that makes it look vintage, even though it's fresh from the shop. There is no better way to pledge allegiance to the winter weather than to wear something grey and droll to match the skies. Sky's the limit, as they say.

Lilac toned and soft to the touch, this would be a pick for anyone from preschool years to the adult ranks. We like a man who can own his masculinity - wearing pastels is a no brainer.
