Luxury Italian fashion house Missoni has teamed up with adidas on a limited-edition collection of space-dye patterned Ultraboosts and running apparel. The drop sees the premium knitwear label apply its iconic space-dyed pattern to adidas’ Primeknit technology, giving the Ultraboost a kaleidoscopically colored effect reminiscent of some of its earliest iterations.

Since it was founded in 1953, Missoni has been pushing the boundaries of fabric construction with its unconventional patterns, innovative dying techniques, and penchant for kaleidoscopes of color. With fabric innovation at the heart of the brand, Missoni's collaborations provide a new canvas for the brand to knit their I.D into. As Angela Missoni, Missoni's creative director since 1997, explains, "Missoni is a language that along its 66-year-old story has been applied to many products. We like to work in partnership and to expand, to experiment, to join resources and skills to get to innovative unique results as is happening now with adidas."

Although known for being the original Italian luxury knitwear label, Missoni also has roots in the world of sport as its co-founder, Ottavio Missoni, represented Italy in the 400-meter finals at the 1948 Olympic Games. The team-up brings together the brands' shared understanding of craftsmanship, heritage, and expertise in knitting innovations. “The story of this collaboration started from the idea that both our companies’ founders were amazing craftsmen that were constantly pushing the limits of their industry," tells Missoni. "Adidas is iconic, immediately recognizable as Missoni is. We could put together two kinds of excellence.

Dropping in six colorways, the adidas X Missoni Ultraboost features a Primeknit upper complete with knitted lacing cage and fabric heel cup, which sits atop a full-length BOOST sole. Each colorway plays with Missoni's iconic flame-like pattern, featuring it all over or as a color hit on the lacing cage.

Complementing the Ultraboosts is a capsule of advanced running apparel that includes a Primeknit short-sleeve tee, a weather-proof jacket, and a knitted Marathon 10 short. Available for men and women, the capsule drops in two colorways, multicolored and black-and-white.

The Ultraboost drops for €250 and apparel prices range from €100 to €300. The adidas x Missoni collection is available today in-store and at missoni.com.
