Double Tap to Zoom

Apple announced a number of updates to its AirPods during yesterday's WWDC virtual event, but there's one change in particular that we're particularly excited about.

The company is introducing a new automatic switch feature that will allow you to jump between devices. This means that if you're connected to your computer and a call comes through on your iPhone, your AirPods will automatically switch to pick it up. The audio feed will also switch with you as you click between your iPhone and laptop, for example.

The auto-switch function will apply to AirPods pro, second-generation AirPods, Powerbeats, Powerbeats Pro, and Beats Solo Pro, will finally let users switch between devices via an iCloud account.

Apple also announced another exciting update to the AirPods Pro earbuds. A new “Spatial Audio” feature offers 3D, surround sound-style audio that supposedly replicates a “movie theater experience.” TheAirPods Pro earbuds will continually recalibrate based on the position of your head to whatever device you’re using.

Other updates include a low battery warning, and a new audio sharing feature for Apple TV devices, which will let two users watch a movie together.
