When A$AP Rocky told GQ that he had “completely reinvented the Slip-On” as part of his upcoming Vans collaboration, fans of the brand and the New York rapper got excited. Rocky had long been a supporter of the Californian skateboarding staple, and A$AP Rocky collaborations are few and far between, always sure to garner a lot of attention.

Over the past few weeks, Rocky has been spotted in NYC wearing what is rumored to be his Vans Slip-On collab. Paparazzi shots give us a clear look at the sneaker, which appears to be a Slip-On mule with Vans’ signature flame graphics on both the lateral and medial sides.

While the design isn’t really a re-invention of the Slip-On — we’ve seen mule-versions of existing sneakers before and LQQK Studio dropped a Mule Slip-On earlier this year — it’s a very on-trend aesthetic that is sure to play well with his fans.

Rocky was previously signed with Under Armour, although that collaboration only resulted in one sneaker release, the SRLo (Skate, Rave, Lo), in 2018. Flacko has also worked with adidas in the past, however, Vans sneakers have always been a staple in his rotation.

Now, the highly anticipated collaboration finally has a release date, arriving in a black colorway featuring a white fire graphic across the side. The silhouette comes in both a Slip-On and Slip-On Mule iteration, and both are now available to purchase online at Pacsun and at Vans, where they retail at $80 and $75 respectively.
