Axel Arigato’s sneaker rotation is expanding by the season. With new styles taking inspiration from across the board, it’s never been more apparent that there’s a pair of Axel Arigato sneakers for everyone. But while the usual AA recipe involves understated, varsity-leaning colorways, the latest take on the Axel Arigato Area Sneaker is a bold detour.
Taking cues from vintage basketball kicks, the Axel Arigato Area Sneaker landed several months back, causing a stir with its premium leather build and distinctive sole unit. But, even with its layered upper and eye-catching sole unit, the silhouette’s understated colorways made it a natural new addition to the collection.
Now, though, Axel Arigato has taken a bright step toward your spring/summer rotation. The latest colorway features a yellow and red outsole coupled with a grey midsole extending into the leather upper. Accompanying the grey panels of the upper is a perforated black base, off-white and green accents to the lacing column and ankle, and a yellow heel tab. As a final touch, orange piping borders the grey mudguard.
This multicolored new take on the silhouette really stands out against the typical Axel Arigato palettes. But not only that, it stands out against the trend for highly understated vintage kicks that we’re experiencing right now. There’s definitely a lot to be said for simple, versatile colorways, but as we move into the sun-blessed months, there’s definitely room for some color, too.
