Timbaland and Swizz Beatz' Verzuz battle series might be about to reach new heights. DMX wants to go head-to-head on Instagram Live with none other than JAY-Z.

During a conversation with N.O.R.E. and DJ Efn of Drink Champs, X was asked who he thinks would be a worthy opponent in a Verzuz hit battle. DMX simply replied "JAY." When asked to clarify, X retorted "Yeah, who you think? Who you think, nigga?"

"That would be battle number 3," DMX said, referring to his and JAY's storied rivalry. Although X is open to go hit for hit against Hov in a battle, the two New York rappers haven't always been on best terms.

Prior to the fame, X and Jigga once linked up for a friendly rap battle. The rappers formed a great working relationship when they were both signed to Def Jam in the 1990s, and went on to form the rap trio Murder Inc. with Ja Rule. However, things eventually went sour between X and JAY, with the rappers taking lyrical shots at each other over the years. After decades of feuding, DMX and Hov appeared to have buried the hatchet in 2016 when they reunited backstage at a Beyoncé concert. Now it waits to be seen whether fans will get one final battle from the hip-hop heavyweights.
