No matter which term you prefer, soccer — or football to everyone else — has made huge strides in the United States in recent years. The sport’s ascension in American culture can largely be attributed to EA SPORTS FIFA and Major League Soccer, who’s celebrating its 25th season this year. In the latest installment of our video series with EA SPORTS FIFA, Highsnobiety explores how MLS and the EA SPORTS FIFA franchise have broken new ground in driving American soccer forward, and caught up with some notable figures in the game.

One of the talents featured in the video is Tayvon Gray, a Bronx native who signed his first MLS contract with NYCFC last November at just 17-years-old. It’s a fitting choice for the young star since the club practices inside the legendary Yankee Stadium.

“Playing in Yankee Stadium, growing up and walking past that same stadium every day — it gives you chills every time,” Gray tells us. But being immortalized in a video game? That’s been a lifelong dream he’s finally fulfilled. “As a kid one of my main goals was to be in FIFA, and that was awesome seeing myself [in the game].”
