Collaborations do more than just create single releases for their creative partners, they push brands and the culture to look for new ideas and push trends into unexpected directions. From the Ground Up, our in depth sneaker show, is back with another episode diving into all things footwear. Last week, we explored the world of sneaker reselling, but this week, we’re delving into collaborations.

For our latest in-depth discussion, host Pete Forestor sits down with Jeff Staple at Extra Butter NY to reminisce over his famous Nike SB collab, the "Pigeon Dunk" in 2005 and how the hyped chaotic release changed sneaker culture as we know it.

We rarely get to see what collaborations look like from the inside, so Pete caught up with Gary Vaynerchuk, commonly known as "Gary Vee," to experience the ins and outs of his first collaboration with K-Swiss. He also speaks with Ryan Babenzien, the founder and CEO of Greats, about choosing the right designer or brand to collaborate with, the ultimate goal for a collab, and how it helps target new audiences.

Check out our full in-depth conversation on sneaker collaborations in the episode above, and be sure to follow us on YouTube for new episodes of From the Ground Up.

Also, watch our previous episode of 'From the Ground Up' as we explore sneaker reselling.
