A 'Knives Out' Sequel Is Officially in the Works
Lionsgate has confirmed that director Rian Johnson's 2019 murder mystery, Knives Out, is getting a sequel. Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer made the announcement this week during the studio’s quarterly earnings call.
Since its release in November last year, Knives Out is well on its way to grossing $300 million worldwide. The comedic thriller, starring Daniel Craig as debonair Detective Benoit Blanc, currently has a 97 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and has been nominated for multiple awards including Golden Globe nods for Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and Best Actor and Actress for Craig and Ana de Armas, as well as Academy Award, BAFTA, WGA, and Critics’ Choice Award nominations for Best Original Screenplay.
Rian Johnson has already come out and said he has an idea for a Knives Out sequel and that he would be willing to do an entire series on Benoit Blanc.
Knives Out follows Daniel Craig's Detective Benoit Blanc as he investigates the death of acclaimed crime novelist Harlan Thrombey. The film boasts a star-studded cast that includes Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, LaKeith Stanfield, and Christopher Plummer, in addition to Craig and de Armas.
