2025 was most definitely the year of fur's comeback, faux or otherwise, and saw an onslaught of hairy mammal print sneakers emerge in the wake of previously minimalist, flat-soled Samba homages.

Now that it has churned through wild cats, bristly horses, and flecked cows, footwear is shedding light on some of the more cold-blooded creatures to have stepped (or slithered, rather) off of Noah's dear Ark. Or so one would guess, based on Nike's latest, crocodile-scale-covered Air Force 1 '07 PRM sneaker.

In a green colorway that practically stings in the eyes, Nike's threateningly good-looking AF1 sneaker leans into the beautifully dangerous, dangerously beautiful qualities of the tough-skinned reptilian its guise is based on.

At around $130 on Nike's website, the jagged-toothed, sharp-clawed '07 PRM bad boys sit at a regular price point for AF1s, despite stemming from the sportswear giant's premium line (hence "PRM").

Though its exterior may have it appear tailored to do so, these kicks' leather is actually too nice to swear to the swamps. They're better enjoyed as the statement footwear choice for a night out on the town, no?

Now do these Nikes hold the candle to New Balance's similarly 'gator-inspired trail runners, or Rick Owens' fish steppers? That's for the wearers to decide.

But hey, until then, might as well go for the whole animal kingdom and turn that shoe rack into something more akin to a wildlife enclosure.
