This 95 Is a Footwear Fortress Built for Skateboarding
The Air Max 95 has dominated the lifestyle arena, and now it’s coming for skateboarding. Following the silhouette's skate-tooling overhaul, the Swoosh teams up with London skater Kyle Wilson for the Kyle Wilson x Nike SB Air Max 95.
Having turned pro with Palace Skateboards in 2021 after years of being a central player in the British and worldwide skating scene, Kyle Wilson represents an exciting new era for the UK. Beyond the clips, he’s working behind the scenes too, bringing his London perspective to Nike SB's modified Air Max 95.
Wilson subverts the fan-favorite triple-black aesthetic with a simple yet effective insertion of color, emphasizing the signature, unmistakable structure of the 95’s layered upper.
This release reinforces Nike SB's strategic push to merge classic Air Max running heritage with its ever-popular skating offshoot. As Nike struggles to compete in the sneaker market, moves like this feel like the way forward: harnessing cultural pioneers like Wilson to reinterpret tried-and-tested silhouettes.
A black upper sets a stealthy foundation here, dramatically punctuated by a metallic side-stripe that shifts its color from gold to bronze as it catches the light.
Heavy-duty black mesh constructs the upper lace bed, framed by durable black suede overlays around the toe cap and lower mudguard built to withstand skate grip tape. A reinforced midsole aligns with the high-impact nature of skating without altering the visual signature of the 95.
