Menace Puts This adidas Classic on Full Heat
The more astute amongst our readers will have noticed a couple weeks back that the Adistar Control 5 is climbing the ranks at an alarming rate to become the go-to base for a collaborative project. Next up? One of LA’s most interesting labels right now. adidas unveils the Menace x adidas Adistar Control 5.
Founded in Los Angeles by Steven Mena, Menace has carved out its identity by combining the classic and time-proven cocktail of skate culture, social commentary, and solid design. But while Menace is thriving in its own right, it’s always great to see that popularity translate into a big-name collab.
This release serves as yet another clear signal that adidas is pushing the Adistar Control 5 aggressively this year, with momentum all but guaranteed to carry deep into next year. By handing the silhouette over to names like Menace, the brand is systematically establishing the model as its chosen canvas for cultural storytelling.
This one isn’t easy to miss. Fitted with an upper that mimics the ever-fascinating markings of a heat map, it’s defined by deep purple transforming through the gradient spectrum to a bright yellow center.
Black accents layer over the heat-map base to ground the shoe in a more balanced way. Menace branding replaces standard tongue badges as well as landing on the third stripe along the lateral side.
The Menace x adidas Adistar Control 5 reinforces the runner’s status as the new powerhouse of the Three Stripes' lifestyle stable. With this silhouette rapidly becoming the default canvas for adidas collaborations, it begs the question: who will we see take on the model next?
