Today PlayStation confirms the release of a Resident Evil 3 remake with an official announcement trailer. The modern revamp had already been expected, but fans of the franchise can look forward to this new installment launching April 3, 2020.

The first Resident Evil 3 trailer gives us a look at the original setting of Raccoon City, as the town is being overtaken by zombies. Protagonists Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira return to combat the monstrous villain, Nemesis, all while trying to escape the zombie-ridden city.

Confirmation of Resident Evil 3 follows the release of the Resident Evil 2 remake from earlier this year. The 2020 video game features updated graphics and gameplay, as well as a new multiplayer component in the form of Resident Evil: Resistance, the multiplayer spin-off formerly known as Project Resistance.

Resident Evil 3 is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 3, 2020.
