Ten years in the game is no small feat, and to celebrate, SUPRA is hosting the “Decade Series.” Both a fresh take on some of its classic Skytop Styles, and an homage to the work that SUPRA has done over the last decade, the second iteration of this celebration features the Skytop II, designed around the theme of "Transitions."

Like the “Layers” Skytop, this Skytop II is directly influenced by SUPRA icon Chad Muska and his personal artistic work and creative process. Focusing on "transitions," Muska drew inspiration from both skating and sculpture, taking material cues from the former to directly inform his work with the latter.

“I build sculptures out of cement and wood that reflect the transitional surface that we ride our skateboards on,” says Muska. But it’s not just art that’s influenced this talk of transitions—it ties directly into how SUPRA itself has transitioned as a brand. “Much like like skateboarding, our company has gone through many transitions in order to change with the times while still trying to maintain a smooth flow,” admits Muska.

The shoe itself is constructed of plush suedes, tapping into the transitional theme by flowing along a black-to-white gradient across the shoe. Starting from the high top upper, the colors begin at black, fading to dark gray, to light gray, and concluding atop a white vulcanized rubber outsole.

The shoe represents “a color fade from dark to light, like night into day,” notes Muska, remarking the various levels of gradation. Details on this Skytop II include an embroidered “X” on the back heel, a clear outsole, and a custom sock liner.

With a clean blend of monochromatic colors, the “Transitions” Skytop II is proof that SUPRA’s only getting better over the years. As the “Decade Series” continues onward, keep an eye out for more reworked styles, dropping in the near future.
