adidas' Shiniest of New Metallic Slip-Ons Is No Plain (Mary) Jane
As summer slowly but steadily heads for fall, adidas' approaches the season's finish line with a reiterated version of its Samba Mary Jane sneaker.
This slimmed down velcro flats are back with a shiny metallic finish, a new Three Stripe design detail. It's another adidas masterclass on how to balance comfort with cool and, well... cuteness.
The height of Samba-mania might've died down, but numbers like this one give the icon a whole new look and more space to shine — literally, in this chrome-clad case of the ballet-ish sneaker.
In this rose gold-adjacent hue, the shoe matches those pretty pink late summer sunsets one enjoys at a friend's Sunday garden party. Not unlike its blueprint soccer model, this Samba offspring, too, is highly versatile: it can serve as a feminine flat or a sporty sneaker just the same.
That said, whoever claimed there's no such thing as glamorous and comfortable in one obviously forgot adidas' Samba Jane existed, which is one of the very few designs in footwear than can pull off a combo of velcro and metallic satin.
Preemptively counteracting fears of any ballerina wearer, adidas thought to include extra heel padding to prevent blisters and allow for long, stylish days on-foot. You're welcome!
There's also a Platinum Silver version, as well as more muted and classic colors that've been added lately to the Samba Jane range. At a sweet $110, it may be time to complete the collection.
