adidas' Lo Pro Staple Got a Marathon-Ready Makeover
First making its mark as a lightweight 1970s indoor training shoe, the adidas BW Army just received a race-ready overhaul for the Chicago Marathon. Teaming up with one of the most visionary retail conglomerates right now, the Three Stripes introduces The Whitaker Group x adidas BW Run Do Not Duplicate.
Led by James Whitner, The Whitaker Group is the name behind cultural powerhouses A Ma Maniére, Social Status, APB, and Prosper. Thats a pretty good pedigree when it comes to sneakers. Known for grounding every collaboration in deep community narrative, social responsibility, and uncompromising premium craftsmanship, Whitner's team consistently transforms standard footwear drops into cultural moments.
Created specifically for the Chicago Marathon, this release anchors a massive, six-shoe Do Not Duplicate capsule. The pack spans three Evo SL colorways alongside three lifestyle-leaning BW Run iterations, with each pair drawing inspiration from the official marathon participant bibs or Chicago city infrastructure.
Focusing specifically on the BW Run, the model reimagines the vintage German trainer silhouette with an updated running lens. The design trades traditional leather for a rich material build, featuring glossy patent overlays.
Breathable mesh forms the base, reinforced by patent leather panels. The main change comes to the sole unit, where a slim EVA midsole delivers more cushioning than the OG design, and a more heavily treaded outsole providing the grip needed for runs.
The Whitaker Group x adidas BW Run Do Not Duplicate shows why Whitner’s practice is so sought after. While most brands adjust the color of panels or fabrics, Whitner brings a full concept, adjusting silhouette in line with a guiding storyline. And the final product looks good, too.
